Srinagar: Border Security Force (BSF) personnel rescued four civilians, including a child and two women, who were stranded amid heavy snowfall in the forward areas of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
A BSF spokesperson said the rescue operation was launched by personnel of the 166 Battalion, deployed at Forward Defence Location (FDL) Gun Hill, after receiving information that four civilians were trapped in extreme weather conditions within the company’s area of responsibility.
“Despite low visibility, BSF launched swift rescue Ops, traced the victims & safely evacuated them including a child & women,” the force said in a post on X .
The rescued individuals were provided with medical aid, food, and shelter, it added.
Kashmir plains were lashed by rains over the last 36 hours while the higher reaches, including Pahalgam, Sonamarg, Daksum, Kokernag, Gulmarg and Kupwara also received a good snow.
