Property of drug peddler attached under NDPS Act in Kulgam: Police

Srinagar | Oct, 6: Police on Monday said that it has attached the property of a drug peddler here in Kulgam under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act.

In a statement issued here on Monday Police said that investigation of case FIR No. 85/2024 under the NDPS Act had revealed that the accused, Cheki Badwani from Kurigam, Tehsil Qazigund, has a history of drug trafficking and lacks a legitimate source of income, adding therein that currently the said accused is incarcerated in District Jail Bhaderwah. Stating that in further inquiries Badwani was to have unlawfully obtained a residential property, valued at approximately Rs. 25 lakh by using proceeds from his drug trafficking activities Police in its statement further said that following the revealation Qazigund Police initiated proceedings under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, resulting in the attachment of the property. Calling its action a part of its initiatives to combat drug-related issues in the district and address the financial aspects of illegal drug operations Police in its statement appealed people to report any information regarding drug peddling or related activities, assuring therein that all shared information will be treated with strict confidentiality.
