Narcotics hotspots across Handwara raided by Police
Srinagar | Oct, 6: Police on Monday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Ganderbal, Budgam & Pulwama and also recovered contraband substances from their possession, adding therein that narcotics hotspots across Police District Handwara were also raided by the various police teams of Handwara.
In a statement issued here on Monday Police said that during patrolling near Old Akhal Bridge, police team intercepted a suspect identified as Riyaz Ahmad Khan S/o Mohd Ashraf Khan R/o Parun Kunmulla, Akhal and during search recovered charas-like substance was recovered from his possession.
Stating that in Budgam also, a police party from Police Post Humhama, during patrolling near Goripora, arrested a drug peddler identified as Fayaz Ahmad Sheikh S/o Abdul Rehman Sheikh R/o Bandgam A/P Draigam Khansahib and during search recovered 5 grams of heroin-like substance from his possession Police in its statement further said that in a similar action in Pulwama, during a naka checking at Circular Road near Payer Crossing, a police team from Police Station Pulwama arrested a drug peddler identified as Nisar Ahmad Ganaie S/o Abdul Ahad Ganaie R/o Tahab, Pulwama and during search recovered 6 kilograms of a charas-like substance concealed in a nylon bag from his possession.
Police in its statement further said that cases under relevant sections of law were at respective police stations besides initiating further investigations,
Adding therein that in Handwara special raids were carried out at various identified drug hotspot locations across Police District Handwara. Stating that raids were conducted by different police parties under the supervision of senior officers and during the operation, multiple areas suspected of being used for drug-related activities were searched thoroughly Police in its statement further said that strict action will be taken against drug peddlers and those found involved in promoting or supporting the drug trade.
Police in its statement also reiterated its commitment to eradicate the menace of drugs from society and appealed people to cooperate by sharing any information related to drug peddling in their respective areas.
