Varsity flays elements spreading false narrative against the Varsity

Rajouri | :   Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) Rajouri has condemned recent attempts to damage its reputation during the ongoing admission process. The university community asserts that these misleading narratives aim to undermine the significant progress made in both academic and administrative areas.

Under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma, who has served as Registrar for the past eight months, BGSBU has experienced transformative growth aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This includes the introduction of 27 new undergraduate and postgraduate programs, the establishment of six new academic departments, and the launch of innovative four-year undergraduate programs that offer multiple entry and exit options. The university’s commitment to future-ready education is evident in the introduction of advanced courses in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning, alongside comprehensive programs in Tourism and Management. This academic expansion has resulted in a notable increase in student enrollment, with over 1,000 new students joining various programs this year, reflecting growing confidence in the university’s academic environment. BGSBU has also integrated field-based experiential learning into its curriculum, exemplified by a collaboration with the Border Roads Organisation, allowing students to engage with real-world projects. The establishment of a Centre for Research in Gojri, Pahari, and Kashmiri Languages highlights the university’s dedication to preserving regional cultural and linguistic heritage. In terms of digital transformation, BGSBU has adopted the Samarth ERP system for comprehensive digitalization of admissions and student services, enhancing governance efficiency. The university has secured significant funding for infrastructure improvements, including ₹20 crore under RUSA and ₹2 crore for smart classrooms, marking a new era of development after years of stagnation. Renovations of hostels and academic facilities are underway to accommodate the growing student body. BGSBU has launched initiatives to foster innovation and entrepreneurship, including a Startup Cell and an Entrepreneurship Development Cell, and recently hosted its first Startup Hackathon. The university is also committed to sustainability, working towards a carbon-neutral campus through a solarization project. To promote women’s empowerment, BGSBU offers financial incentives for female students and provides civil services coaching under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme. The introduction of RFID-enabled identity cards enhances campus security and operational efficiency. Additionally, a comprehensive University Induction Programme focusing on mental health and student well-being has been implemented, demonstrating the university’s commitment to holistic student support. BGSBU reaffirms its dedication to excellence, innovation, inclusivity, and transparency, urging stakeholders to disregard false narratives and continue supporting its mission to develop responsible and skilled citizens ready to navigate a rapidly changing world.
