Awantipora | : The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) has formalized a partnership with the University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD) through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at fostering academic cooperation and mutual understanding.
The agreement was signed by Prof. A.H. Moon, Dean of Academic Affairs at IUST, and Chancellor Edgardo Carlo L. Vistan II of UPD, with the presence of IUST’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Shakil Ahmad Romshoo. The MoU encompasses a variety of collaborative initiatives, including the exchange of faculty, researchers, and students, joint research projects, and the organization of lectures, conferences, and symposia. This agreement is set to remain in effect for five years, with the possibility of extension upon mutual consent. Prof. Shakil A. Romshoo emphasized that this collaboration will enhance academic engagement across Southeast Asian universities and represents a significant step in IUST’s ongoing efforts to expand its international partnerships. Both institutions share several common courses, which Prof. Moon noted would enhance the meaningfulness of their collaboration. Dr. Afroze A. Bisati, Dean of SHSS, expressed optimism regarding future joint initiatives. The signing ceremony was attended by senior representatives from both universities, highlighting the commitment to this partnership. Dr. Muzaffar Ali Makka from IUST and Dr. Ma. Liza Ruth A. Ocampo from UPD have been designated as the points of contact to facilitate the implementation of the collaborative efforts.
