Cooperative Deptt hosts One-Day stakeholders meet at Jammu

Landmark MoUs signed to strengthen Coop sector in J&K

Jammu | :  The Cooperative department Friday hosted a One-Day Stakeholders Meet at Convention Centre here to resonate the true meaning of ‘Sahakar Se Samriddhi’ (Prosperity Through Cooperation).

The meet was graced by Commissioner Secretary, Cooperative Department, Babila Rakwal as the Chief Guest.

Registrar Cooperative Societies J&K, Mohammad Shafiq Chak; Additional Registrar Cooperative Societies, Jammu, Bal Krishan; Joint Registrars, Jammu Division, officers from NABARD, IIIM, NCDC, allied departments, MD and Chairperson of UNATI, Agri Allied and Marketing Multistate Cooperative Society Limited were also present on the occasion.

The event also witnessed participation from representatives of three prominent Multi State Cooperative Societies like National Cooperative Organics Ltd (NCOL), Bharatiya Beej Sahkari Samiti Ltd (BBSSL) & National Cooperative Export Ltd (NCEL) AND –MD of Unati Agri Allied and Marketing Multistate Coop Society Limited who joined for the signing of landmark Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with various agencies. This initiative is seen as a major step towards realizing the Union Government’s vision for a robust cooperative ecosystem.

In her keynote address, the Commissioner Secretary stated that the successful signing of these MoUs is a true demonstration of our collective will. She also appreciated the Cooperative Department for facilitating the formation of Apex-level federations within such a short span of time.

The Commissioner Secretary further said that these federations, through their collaboration with the three Multistate Cooperatives, will play a vital role in expanding business opportunities, strengthening value chains, and ensuring benefits reach farmers at the grassroots level.

The formal exchange of MoUs, officiated by the Commissioner Secretary, marked the beginning of new cooperative alliance. The agreements were signed between the apex cooperative bodies of Kashmir and Jammu, represented by the Registrar, Cooperative Societies, J&K, and the Additional Registrar, Jammu, along with officials from the three multi-state cooperatives, BBSSL, NCOL, & NCEL.

Also, an MOU was signed between Centre for Cooperative Management, Jammu represented by its Principal, Preeti Sharma, Joint Registrar (Special) and FICCI FLO represented by its Chairperson, Aarti Choudhari. The MoU will facilitate women entrepreneurship, digital and financial literacy and exposure visits for the participants.

Earlier, the Commissioner Secretary also visited various stalls installed by FPOs, PACS, UNATI, Cooperatives etc. She enquired about the products exhibited during the program.

Later, the Commissioner Secretary also distributed the certificates among the young achievers and gave mementos to the representatives of NCEL, NCOL, BBSSL and FICCI.
