Ganderbal |: The Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) on Thursday concluded its “Swachhata Hi Seva 2025” campaign with a “Swachhata Divas” event at the Tulmulla Campus, as part of the nationwide Seva Parv-2025 observance.

The program, organized by the Directorate of Students Welfare and the National Service Scheme, saw participation from faculty, scholars, and students, and was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Prof. A. Ravinder Nath. During the event, Prof. A. Ravinder Nath commended the students for their active involvement in various activities throughout the campaign, highlighting the importance of co-curricular and extra-curricular engagements in fostering qualities such as camaraderie, discipline, and ethical values. He emphasized the connection between cleanliness and sustainability, urging the installation of waste-segregating dustbins on campus and advocating for reduced plastic use to combat pollution. The Vice-Chancellor also recognized the winners of competitions held during the campaign, celebrating their contributions to its success. Prof. Farooq Ahmad Mir, Dean of the School of Legal Studies, invoked Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy on cleanliness, asserting that it extends beyond physical spaces to encompass thoughts and actions. He stressed that cleanliness is a collective responsibility, essential for nation-building. Prof. Abid Hamid Dar, Dean of the School of Life Sciences, echoed this sentiment, asserting that cleanliness is crucial for India’s progress and the realization of the vision for a developed nation by 2047. Students shared their experiences from the campaign, expressing gratitude for the opportunities provided by the university to engage meaningfully with societal issues. Prof. Irfan Aalam, Dean of Students Welfare, provided an overview of the campaign’s activities, emphasizing its holistic approach to promoting cleanliness, ecological awareness, and community service. NSS Coordinator Dr. Shabir Ahmad detailed various initiatives undertaken during the campaign, including cleanliness drives, workshops, and cultural events, all aimed at instilling cleanliness as a core value. The event concluded with acknowledgments from the organizing team, reinforcing the commitment of CUKashmir to foster responsible citizenship and contribute to societal well-being through cleanliness and sustainability initiatives.
