Srinagar| : The University of Kashmir (KU) on Thursday concluded its Sewa Parv 2025 celebrations, which ran from September 17 to October 2, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti.
The final program, organized by the Department of Students’ Welfare (DSW) in collaboration with the Shri Pran Kishor Koul Institute of Music and Fine Arts (IMFA), featured various events at the Main Campus. Highlights included the unveiling of a wall painting focused on themes of environment, youth power, and patriotism, a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, a symposium discussing the relevance of Gandhian principles today, the launch of the Sonzal-2025 poster, and a cultural program performed by students. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nilofer Khan emphasized the importance of art, dialogue, and collective participation in fostering a deeper understanding of service and responsibility in modern society, while also underscoring the ongoing relevance of Gandhi’s vision. Key university figures, including administrative officers and faculty members, participated in honoring Gandhi, reflecting a unified commitment to his ideals. Prof. Majid Zaman, Controller of Examinations, noted that the celebrations allowed students to engage meaningfully with Gandhi’s philosophy, while Dean DSW Prof. Pervez Ahmed highlighted the integration of academic learning with community involvement through the events. Dr. Habibullah Shah, Principal of IMFA, pointed out the role of artistic expression in promoting Gandhian values of peace, unity, and harmony.
