Udhampur |:  The concluding ceremony of the ‘Sewa Parv’ (Service Fortnight) was successfully held at the District Veterinary Hospital (DVH) Udhampur.

The simple but impressive function was chaired by Dr. Shevatambri Khajuria, the Chief Animal Husbandry Officer of Udhampur. During the event, Dr. Anwar Hussain Nagoo, Superintendent of the DVH Udhampur, presented a detailed report on the work accomplished during the 15-day program.

Dr. Nagoo emphasized the necessity of planning the Sewa Parv activities—such as health camps, special veterinary services, and awareness drives—in a structured calendar under the ambit of distinguished veterinary services, ensuring they align with government instructions. He also underscored the urgent need for community involvement to achieve the ‘One Health’ concept, a principle followed in every segment of the Parv, including health camps, animal care and disease prevention awareness, cleanliness and plantation drives and volunteer collaborations.

Dr. Khajuria, in her address, highlighted the crucial role of veterinary services in controlling zoonotic diseases like Rabies, Bird Flu, and Toxoplasmosis, reaffirming the department’s commitment to disease containment and enhancing farmers’ livelihoods. She also hinted at a major boost for the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Sector in Udhampur. A state-of-the-art Veterinary Hospital is nearing completion in the district, with 80% of the work finalized. Furthermore, to cater to the demand and potential of poultry husbandry, a high-tech hatchery is being constructed and is scheduled to be functional by the end of the current financial year.

During the ceremony, distinguished individuals were formally recognized for their exemplary contributions. M. Iqbal was recognized as the Best Farmer. Dr. Karun Gupta and Dr. Iqbal received the award as the Best Clinician of the Mobile Veterinary Unit and Best Diagnostic Clinician respectively.

Atul Sharma was honored as the Best Employee of the Hospital, while Tilak Raj was recognized as the Best Supporter and Facilitator for tackling emergencies.

The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks presented by Dr. Raj Kumar, a Senior Veterinarian at DVH Udhampur.
