Ganderbal |: The Pro Bono Club at Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) on Wednesday hosted an Inter-University Legal Quiz Competition at the Moot Court of the School of Legal Studies.
The event saw participation from five institutions: CUKashmir, University of Kashmir, Kashmir Law College, Sopora Law College, and Vitasta Law College. Its primary objectives were to enhance legal literacy, promote awareness of access to justice, and instill a sense of social responsibility among law students. Addressing the participants Dr. Nisar Ahmad Mir, the Registrar emphasized the importance of wise dispute resolution and the global challenges in justice delivery. He praised the Pro Bono Club for its outreach efforts and encouraged students to view learning as a lifelong journey. Ms. Kinjal Bagdi, Assistant Professor and event coordinator, highlighted the significance of co-curricular activities as an essential component of legal education. Dr. Hilal Ahmad Najar, Senior Assistant Professor and Chief Coordinator of the Pro Bono Club, contextualized the club’s role in connecting with marginalized communities through legal aid initiatives. The preliminary quiz rounds were managed by student Ms. Wani Tamanna, leading to a tie-breaker that determined the three finalist teams. Chief Guest Prof. Shahid Rasool, Dean of Academic Affairs, congratulated the participants and shared personal anecdotes, stressing the importance of time management, democratic learning environments, and practical engagement opportunities. The competition concluded with CUKashmir’s team, consisting of Tamanna Mann, Rahila Fayaz, and Muqtida Hamid, emerging as the winners. The University of Kashmir secured the first runner-up position, while Kashmir Law College was the second runner-up. Sopora Law College and Vitasta Law College also delivered commendable performances. CUKashmir was awarded the Best Performance University Trophy, recognizing its overall excellence in the competition.
