Sewa Parv-2025: DC G’bal presides over mega awareness program against drug abuse

Kishore flags off bike rally from Town Hall under NMBA

Ganderbal | :  As part of the ongoing Sewa Parv-2025 celebrations, the District Administration Ganderbal Tuesday organized a mega awareness program against drug abuse at Town Hall Ganderbal, presided over by Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore.

The event witnessed the presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Syed Fahim Bihaqi, Executive Officer Municipal Council Ganderbal, besides a large gathering of students and locals.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC emphasized that Sewa Parv is being observed with a special focus on an intensified campaign against drug abuse. He described substance abuse as a deeply concerning issue, noting that its symptoms often appear at later stages, making recovery extremely challenging for the victi

DC urged society to change its perception towards drug addiction, stressing that victims must not be stigmatized but rather supported with compassion and treated as patients in need of care, not as criminals. He also informed that a De-addiction Centre is functional in Ganderbal, ensuring anonymity, privacy, and rehabilitation facilities for those seeking help.

While appreciating the contribution of the Excise Department, Police, health professionals, and other resource persons in spreading awareness, the DC appealed to parents to strengthen communication with their children and encourage them towards adopting healthy lifestyles to keep them away from the menace of drugs.

Earlier, the DC flagged off a bike rally from Town Hall Ganderbal, organized with special focus on the Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA). The rally marked the continuation of a series of awareness programmes being held across the district under Sewa Parv-2025 to sensitize people about drug abuse and highlight various government initiatives aimed at its prevention.
