Srinagar: Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, V.K. Birdi, convened a security review meeting to evaluate the current security landscape in the Kashmir Valley.
The meeting included participation from all Range Deputy Inspectors General and District Senior Superintendents of Police, along with other senior officials. During the meeting, attendees provided updates on crime and security conditions within their jurisdictions, focusing on law and order management, ongoing anti-terror operations, and public safety initiatives. Key discussions revolved around the implementation of the NDPS Act, efforts to achieve zero terror recruitment, the strengthening of district security frameworks, and property attachment actions against individuals involved in terrorism. A significant emphasis was placed on monitoring social media to combat misinformation and anti-national propaganda. IGP Birdi called for intensified anti-drug operations, increased surveillance on drug offenders, and a comprehensive approach to community outreach and rehabilitation as part of the anti-narcotics strategy. The meeting also outlined a district-wise security plan, highlighting the importance of protecting key installations, addressing sensitive areas, and fostering inter-agency cooperation. IGP Birdi underscored the necessity for proactive intelligence gathering and rapid response to emerging threats, directing officers to enhance area domination, conduct night patrols in sensitive regions, and maintain vigilance over anti-national elements. Furthermore, IGP Birdi commended the district chiefs for their crime prevention efforts while stressing the need for improved investigative quality. He urged officers to adopt a vigilant, responsive, and community-focused approach in their operations.
