BUDGAM: In continuation of the nationwide Sewa Parv celebrations, a series of activities showcasing community service, cleanliness, awareness and civic responsibility were today carried out across different blocks of District Budgam with overwhelming participation from students, officials, municipal bodies, and the general public.
At Charar-i-Sharief, a large-scale cleanliness drive was undertaken under the banner of Sewa Parv. The drive witnessed active involvement of students, teachers, municipal staff, and local volunteers who came together to clean public spaces, spread awareness on hygiene, and encourage people to adopt sustainable sanitation practices.
In Khag, HSS Khag in collaboration with Police Station Khag organized a joint awareness programme on prevention of drug abuse and its harmful consequences. Resource persons sensitized students and youth about the ill effects of substance abuse, highlighting the role of families, schools, and community institutions in protecting future generations. The programme was marked by interactive sessions, speeches, and motivational messages aimed at creating a drug-free society.
Adding a creative dimension to the ongoing campaign, MC Chadoora undertook wall painting drives at prominent public locations. Through vibrant artwork, messages of cleanliness, social harmony, and civic sense were artistically depicted, turning walls into canvases of awareness and inspiration for the community.
In Budgam town, MC Budgam distributed dustbins in various localities to promote proper waste segregation and disposal practices. The initiative was aimed at empowering households and shopkeepers to actively participate in the district’s cleanliness mission and contribute to a sustainable waste management system.
Similarly, in Block Surasyar, cleanliness drives were organized across schools and public places. Students, teachers, and local residents enthusiastically participated in sweeping, garbage collection, and plantation activities, demonstrating their commitment to environmental conservation and public health.
Officials and participants across different venues highlighted that Sewa Parv is not just an event but a people’s movement dedicated to nurturing a spirit of selfless service, responsibility, and collective effort. The day-long activities reflected the district administration’s resolve to spread awareness on crucial social issues, strengthen community bonds, and ensure active citizen participation in building a cleaner, healthier, and more responsible society.
The ongoing Sewa Parv in Budgam will continue with more programmes in the coming days, focusing on themes of cleanliness, social awareness, and public service.
