Says ‘Govt filling gaps in sports infra in phased manner; stepping up measures for smooth winter commodity flow’
Srinagar : Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Satish Sharma, announced significant developments regarding the promotion of physical education teachers and support for Rehbar-e-Taleem (ReT) employees.
Speaking at an official event in Baramulla the Minister said that the long-awaited promotions for physical education teachers are currently under review, assuring that all teachers will receive their due recognition. Additionally, the government is pursuing a special package from the Centre for Rehbar-e-Khel employees to address employment and wage issues, similar to support provided for flood-affected areas. In terms of sports development, Sharma emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing sports infrastructure in a phased approach. He called on local authorities and residents to assist by providing land for new facilities, as identified projects are set to be implemented under the guidance of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. The Minister also highlighted initiatives aimed at promoting winter sports, marathons, and various youth activities, which are designed to engage young people in positive and professional pursuits. Regarding essential supplies, Sharma stated that the government is prioritizing the winter stocking of LPG and other necessities to ensure a steady supply throughout Jammu and Kashmir, despite challenges posed by natural calamities and highway blockades. He also addressed public safety, particularly concerning road accidents, noting that the Government of India has announced financial assistance for those who transport injured victims to hospitals, a provision that will be effectively implemented in the region.
