Says “Layered Security, Night Patrols Ensure Secure Border Before Winter”

Srinagar : Inspector General of Border Security Force (BSF) Kashmir Frontier, Ashok Yadav on Saturday emphasized the high level of readiness among security forces along the Line of Control (LoC) to thwart terrorist infiltration attempts.
Speaking at the BSF headquarters during the launch of a T-shirt for the upcoming Wular Half Marathon 2.0, scheduled for October 12, 2025, Yadav highlighted the BSF’s collaborative efforts with the Indian Army, which have successfully prevented two infiltration attempts this year. He noted that advanced surveillance tools have significantly bolstered security measures along the border. Yadav pointed out that infiltration attempts typically increase as winter approaches, as terrorists aim to cross before snowfall obstructs mountain passes, which usually occurs by November. With two months left before winter fully sets in, security agencies are on high alert for potential infiltration attempts. He also mentioned the ongoing challenges posed by terrorist training camps located across the border in areas such as Bandipora, Kupwara, and Baramulla, which are under close surveillance to maintain peace.
The IG discussed the evolving tactics of terrorists, who are now minimizing communication to avoid detection, complicating intelligence gathering. However, he assured that agencies are meticulously analyzing all available information to track terrorists and locate their hideouts. The BSF has adopted a layered security approach, utilizing thermal imaging, ground sensors, night patrols, and coordinated operations with the Army to enhance their response capabilities. In addition to security efforts, the BSF announced the “Save Wular Run with Borderman” marathon, aimed at promoting environmental awareness and community engagement. The marathon will feature races of 5 km, 10 km, and 21.1 km, with free registration already open and an expected participation of around 3,000 runners, particularly from the Kashmir Valley. The event also aims to identify local talent for sponsorship under the Khelo India scheme, facilitating further training and participation in national and international competitions.
