4th District Coop Development Committee meeting held at B’gam

Budgam | :  The 4th District Level Cooperative Development Committee (DCDC) meeting was Saturday convened at Budgam under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Budgam, Mehraj-ud-Din Shah.

During the meeting, detailed deliberations were held on the agenda of making Primary Cooperative Societies economically vibrant entities. The officers discussed ways to strengthen the cooperative ecosystem in the district with special focus on agriculture, dairy, and fisheries cooperatives.

ADC stressed on the timely updation of the National Cooperative Database, preparation of a district-level plan for setting up new multipurpose Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), Dairy and Fishery Cooperative Societies, and ensuring that every Panchayat and village in Budgam is covered under the cooperative framework.

He directed the concerned officers to work in coordination with District Central Cooperative Banks, State Cooperative Banks, and other block/district-level federations, so that linkages of existing and new cooperatives are effectively established.

Shah emphasized facilitating the registration of new cooperative societies, dovetailing of various Government of India schemes with PACS and primary cooperatives, and ensuring provision of infrastructure, logistics and land allotment where required.

The meeting also discussed steps for establishing district-level cooperative federations in coordination with the UT government, wherever feasible, and stressed the need for capacity building, financial inclusion, and viability assessments to strengthen grassroots cooperative institutions.

The ADC exhorted all stakeholders to extend full support for effective ground-level implementation of cooperative development plans and called for collective efforts to transform primary cooperatives into engines of rural economic growth in Budgam.

The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Development Budgam, Chief Agriculture Officer Budgam, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Budgam, Deputy Registrar Cooperatives Budgam, besides other concerned officers and stakeholders.
