3 drug peddlers arrested, huge quantity of contraband substances recovered: Police

Srinagar | :Police on Saturday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Sopore, Budgam and Shopian and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.

In a statement issued here on Saturday Police said that in Sopore, a police party during naka checking at Nadihal intercepted a vehicle (Truck) bearing registration no JK05F-4786 with two suspected identified as Bilal Ahmad Lone S/o Habibullah Lone R/o Nadihal and Barkat Ahmad Dar, S/o Abdul Rashid Dar R/o Chaklooo n board and during search, large quantity of psychotropic capsules (SpasmoProxyvon Plus) were recovered from the said vehicle following which both the accused were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Stating that in Budgam, a police party from Police Post Narbal intercepted a suspect during patrolling near the Railway track at Bachipora Police in its statement further said that during 63 grams of wet charas-like substance were recovered from the possession of the said accused identified as Rouf Ahmad Bhat S/o Ghulam Nabi Bhat R/o Haru Aboora who were arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Police in its statement further said that in Shopian also a police party from Police Station Zainapora accompanied by the Executive Magistrate 1st Class while acting on specific inputs raided the specific location at Dachoo Zainapora and during search recovered 31.8 Kgs of charas like substance from the residential house/cow shed of one Showkat Ahmad Dar S/o late Abdul Satar Dar R/o DachooZainapora.

Stating that further investigation is going on and efforts are on to arrest the absconding accused  Police in its statement further said that the cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation is going on.

In the concluding para of its above quoted statement police reiterated its firm commitment to zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking , assuring therein strict action against all individuals involved in this menace .
