Srinagar | : Police on Friday organised ‘Run for Unity’ and awareness rallies against drug abuse and illicit trafficking in Budgam and Awantipora under the CAP 2025-26 to commemorate 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
In Budgam, the run, held from Lucent International School Magam to AgrikalanMagam, witnessed enthusiastic participation of students. Participants ran together to spread the message of peace, national integration, and values of unity. The event was flagged off by SHO Magam in the presence of teachers and students. The rally passed through various areas of Magam in a bid to create awareness about ill effects of drug menace and its consequences. Students were holding banners and placards in their hands with the messages against use of substance abuse and also raised slogans on social evil and pledged to join their hands to eradicate this menace from the society. Participants were felicitated with cash rewards, certificates, and mementos to encourage their continued involvement in such initiatives.
Meanwhile, in Awantipora, the run, held from Khew to Sharshali, witnessed enthusiastic participation of students of different school of Khrew area.
The event was flagged off by SDPO Pampore Shri RP Singh alongwith SHO PS Khrew. Officials of police, teachers and students were present on the occasion. The first three winners were presented with mementos and appreciation certificates.
J&K Police lauded the efforts of the participants and reiterated its commitment to promote unity, integrity, patriotism in line with the legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and also making its contribution to spreading awareness about the menace of drug abuse to general masses.
