Rajouri Distt figures among Top National Level performers;  Bags ₹2 cr Cash award

Rajouri | :  Rajouri district has emerged as one of the Top Performing Districts under the Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari (JSJB) 1.0 initiative, securing a prestigious cash award of ₹2 crore.

The recognition has been conferred on the basis of verified data authenticated by the Central Nodal Officers (CNOs).

Under the dynamic leadership of Deputy Commissioner, Abhishek Sharma, the district administration worked tirelessly to ensure the successful implementation of JSJB activities. In the zone-wise performance evaluation Rajouri secured the top spot at National level highlighting the district’s efficiency, transparency and commitment towards citizen-centric governance.

As part of the ‘Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari’ program, the district successfully geo-tagged 4,208 rainwater harvesting structures, including 132 Amrit Sarovars, 894 ponds, 510 bowlis, 2,270 harvesting tanks and 408 dugwells. These initiatives have proved instrumental in enhancing rainwater harvesting capacity and ensuring long-term water sustainability in the district.

Driven by the Prime Minister’s vision of water security, the Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari initiative emphasizes conservation through community partnership and ownership, adopting a whole-of-society and whole-of-government approach.

At the national level, 13 states were categorised into five zones, and in Zone 5, where the UT of J&K was placed, Rajouri emerged as the national topper.

The ₹ 2 crore award would be utilized to further strengthen ongoing developmental initiatives and to enhance public welfare measures in the district.*

Expressing satisfaction over this remarkable achievement, the Deputy Commissioner lauded the dedicated efforts of all departments, field functionaries and stakeholders. He stated that this award is not only recognition of Rajouri’s progress but also a motivation to continue striving for inclusive and sustainable development.
