Rajouri | : Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), in partnership with the Jammu & Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), hosted the Startup India Challenge at the University Auditorium, Polytechnic Block.
The event was attended by Abhishek Sharma, the Registrar of BGSBU, who served as the Chief Guest. In his address, he highlighted the importance of startup initiatives in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, encouraging students to develop sustainable business ideas. He assured attendees of the University’s commitment to creating a supportive environment for startups and announced plans to invite renowned industry leaders to mentor students. Additionally, he mentioned upcoming Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with prominent institutions to enhance the startup ecosystem and the formation of a National Advisory Committee to provide expert guidance to aspiring entrepreneurs. The program commenced with a Welcome Address by Dr. A. A. Shah, Faculty In-charge of the Startup and Innovation Cell, who reiterated the University’s dedication to nurturing an entrepreneurial culture. Following this, Dr. Mubashir Malik, Head of the Department of Information Technology & Engineering, delivered the Keynote Address. Mr. Mehraj, District Nodal Officer of JKEDI, presented an overview of various startup programs and opportunities available for aspiring entrepreneurs. During the event, 17 innovative startup ideas were showcased to a jury of four distinguished judges. After careful evaluation, three ideas were selected for the final round of assessment. The event attracted approximately 500 participants, including students, Deans, Principals, Directors, Heads of Departments, University Officers, JKEDI officials, and other dignitaries, providing a vibrant platform for students to demonstrate their entrepreneurial skills and engage with experts from both academia and industry.
