Bandipora | :  Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, Thursday presided over a meeting with district and sectoral officers at the Mini Secretariat here to review arrangements for winter stocking of essentials in Bandipora district.

The meeting focused on ensuring timely stocking of essential commodities, including rice grains, LPG cylinders, diesel for DG sets, seeds for farming practices, and firewood.

DC sought feedback from all departments and directed that stocking be completed in a time-bound manner by October 20th. She laid special emphasis on preparedness of the Health department, especially with regard to expecting mothers and critical care. BMO Gurez informed that adequate arrangements have been made to meet healthcare requirements during winter.

Mechanical Engineering Department (MED) officer also briefed the DC about snow clearance measures and assured readiness of machinery for prompt deployment.

The meeting was attended by ADC Bandipora, Zaffar Husson Shawl; senior officers from police, PWD, Jal Shakti, PDD, Agriculture, Horticulture, Social Welfare, Health, Food & Civil Supplies, Fire & Emergency Services, and representatives of traders’ federations. Officers from Gurez subdivision, including SDM Gurez, Tehsildar Gurez, BMO Gurez and other concerned officials, joined the meeting virtually.

Earlier in the day, DC also chaired a separate meeting regarding helicopter services for Gurez during the winter months. The meeting was attended by representatives from the Divisional Commissioner’s office, CISF, NHPC, Civil Aviation, Jet Services, and other concerned officers.

On the occasion, DC stressed adherence to proper protocol, transparency in management, and effective utilisation of sorties to ensure hassle-free movement of passengers during closure of the Bandipora–Gurez road.

It was further given out that, in addition to the already existing locations, three new helipad sites have been identified. Directions were passed to ensure that windsocks, smoke alarms, and windshields are installed at all helipads to ensure smooth operations and safety compliance.

DC urged all departments to work in synergy to ensure smooth delivery of essential services and to minimise public inconvenience especially during the harsh winter months.
