Samba | Sept, 24: The Government Degree College Vijaypur organized a plantation drive Wednesday under the nationwide initiative of ‘Sewa Parv’ to celebrate NSS Day 2025.
The NSS Unit (KHIDMAT) organized the event in collaboration with the Department of Environmental Sciences, affirming the commitment of the college towards environmental sustainability and community service.
The NSS volunteers, faculty members and students together planted a variety of saplings on the College Campus.
Principal of the College, Dr. Ashu Vashisht, appreciated the department of Environmental Sciences and NSS Unit and highlighted the significance of such initiatives in building a socially responsible and environmentally conscious generation.
Dr. Arti Sharma, Head, Department of Environmental Sciences, also addressed the volunteers, emphasizing the scientific and ecological importance of plantations in mitigating climate change and enhancing biodiversity.
The program concluded with a pledge taken by all volunteers to continue working towards environmental protection and social welfare as true ambassadors of the NSS motto “Not Me, But You”.
The event was coordinated by Prof. Anita Jamwal (HOD Political Science), Prof. Mamta Gupta (HOD Commerce), Dr. Anoop Kumar Bhagat (HOD Sociology), Prof. Ritu Bhagat (HOD Education), Dr. Arti Sharma (HOD Environmental Sciences), Dr. Manoj Heer (HOD Dogri), Dr. Naseem Chowdhary (NSS PO) and Prof. Mitu Sharma (HOD Geography). It was co-coordinated by Dr. Gunjeet Mahiwal, Dr. Pooja Gupta, Prof. Manisha Devi and Dr. Anoop Singh.
