Srinagar | : Police on Monday said that it has solved a hit and run case by arresting an accused person involved in the commission of crime.
In a statement issued here on Monday Police said that on 17th July this year Police Station Awantipora received an input about an accident at Lethpora in which an unknown vehicle hit and injured a pedestrian namely Habibullah Beigh S/o Mohd Sultan Beigh R/o Lethpora and the injured was taken to hospital for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries. Stating that a case under FIR no 161/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Awantipora besides initiating further investigation Police in its statement further said that while acting swiftly, a police party led by SHO Police Station Awantipora Inspector Ajaz Hamd and PSI Dalbir Singh started a hot pursuit of the unknown driver and arrested the accused driver identified as Raj Kumar S/o Krishan Chand R/o Mova Samba after hectic efforts, adding therein that the accused was shifted to police station where he remains in custody and the vehicle bearing registration No. JK21F-4537 involved in the commission of said crime was also seized. In the concluding para of its above quoted statement police reiterated its commitment to act tough against the individuals involved in criminal activities.
