DC Rajouri reviews damage assessment process post heavy rains

DC directs speedy restoration of affected roads, schools & water supply schemes

Rajouri | :  Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma Monday convened a meeting with concerned officers to review the assessment of damage to public infrastructure and private property in the district due to the recent spell of flash floods and landslides triggered by heavy rains.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the departments including PWD, PMGSY and Education to prepare and submit a comprehensive list of works requiring urgent restoration. He stressed that critical infrastructure must be identified and prioritized to minimize disruption of essential public services.

While reviewing the status of educational institutions, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the Additional Deputy Commissioners (ADCs) to prepare a priority list of partially safe schools so that restoration and safety measures could be initiated without delay. He also issued necessary directions for the timely restoration of health facilities.

With regard to the Jal Shakti Department, the DC underlined the need to focus on repairing damaged water supply lines to ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply in the affected areas.

Emphasizing the importance of a coordinated and time-bound response, the Deputy Commissioner called upon all departments to work in close synergy for swift restoration of essential services, thereby reducing hardships faced by the public.

The meeting was attended by ADC Rajouri, Chander Prakash; ACR, Mohd Jhangir Khan; CPO, Maqsood Ahmed; ACD, AuqilNuvaid; SE PWD (R&B), Devi Dayal; CEO Education, Iqbal Hussain; EXEN PWD (R&B) Kalakote, Zahir Khan; EXEN PWD (R&B) Nowshera, Sarwar Mehmood; EXEN PMGSY Rajouri and EXEN Jal Shakti Rajouri, Sudesh Kumar.

Besides, ADC Sunderbani, Ramkesh Sharma; ADC Kalakote, Mohd Tanvir; ADC Nowshera, Pritam Lal Thapa; ADC Koteranka, Dil Mir and SDM Thanamandi, Abid Hussain, participated in the meeting through virtual mode.
