Reasi | : A Vishal (Grand) Dangal and cultural program was Monday organized here at Mohali Talab Panchayat Dangakote drawing an overwhelming response from the local community.
The event, organized under the aegis of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, was inaugurated by Chairman District Development Council Reasi, Saraf Singh Naag.
The event witnessed the participation of over 6,000 people, including school children and residents from 10 neighboring Panchayats, who came together to celebrate the rich traditions of Dogra culture and support the National mission of Nasha Mukt Bharat.
The cultural segment, curated by Cultural Officer Bhopinder Singh Jamwal, featured a series of impactful skits, stage performances and awareness shows aimed at promoting a drug-free society. The performances by local school boys and girls added vibrancy and youthful energy to the occasion.
The wrestling event showcased 80 thrilling bouts, with Madan Singh of Reasi emerging as the star of the day by defeating Happy from Punjab in the final match. He was awarded a cash prize of ₹31,000 amidst cheers from the crowd.
Traditional Kud dance along with Punjabi and Dogri folk songs were highlight of the event and received immense appreciation from the audience. The collective goodwill and cultural enthusiasm displayed by the participating Panchayats underscored a strong commitment to organizing more such events in the future to preserve and promote the region’s heritage.
