Budgam | : On the directions of Deputy Chief Minister J&K UT (Chairman J&K KVIB), Jammu & Kashmir Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB Budgam) successfully organized an awareness camp cum interaction program Saturday at Raithan Khan Sahib Budgam.
The camp aimed to sensitize the general public, educated unemployed youth and especially the rural population about the wide range of opportunities available under the flagship programs of KVIB, including the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) and J&K Rural Employment Generation Programme (JKREGP) designed to promote self-employment and entrepreneurship in urban as well as rural areas.
Lead District Manager, DDC Member Khan Sahib, officials from line departments, Cluster Head JKB Budgam, Branch Heads of various banks and other dignitaries attended the program.
The event witnessed an enthusiastic response from the local community, entrepreneurs, aspiring persons, NGOs, especially rural educated unemployed youth.
The gathering was informed that during the last financial year KVIB district Budgam disbursed 498 cases involving margin money of Rs 1379.92 lacs thereby creating employment opportunities for 2988 person under PMEGP, and under JKREGP scheme 15 number of cases were sponsored involving margin money of Rs 48.30 lacs thereby generating employment to 120 persons.
It was urged that there is importance of utilizing these schemes to boost local industries and empower urban/rural communities.
The session included detailed presentations about the financial assistance, subsidies, and technical support provided under these schemes to facilitate the establishment of small and medium enterprises & the training programmes offered by the JKRSETI.
It was further shared by the LDM Budgam that youth should involve themselves with the schemes being implemented by the J&K KVIB for their upliftment and establish income generating ventures/units and create employment.
Special emphasis was laid on the production of eco-friendly products and leveraging traditional crafts to enhance economic sustainability. Participants were also guided on the application process, eligibility criteria, and necessary documentation required availing these benefits.
The event featured interactive sessions, where experts addressed queries and provided personalized consultations to attendees. Success stories of beneficiaries who have established thriving businesses under KVIB schemes were also shared to inspire and motivate others.
The camp concluded with the distribution of informational booklets and registration forms among interested participants.
