Plantation drives, awareness camps & welfare activities held on Day 4
Pulwama : The day-4 celebrations of Sewa Parv witnessed a series of diverse activities across Pulwama district, reflecting the spirit of service, awareness, and community engagement.
Various departments came together to organise programmes aimed at promoting environmental protection, health care, digital literacy, and social welfare.
A special plantation initiative titled ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ was organised across schools of the district, in convergence with the Social Forestry department. Under this drive, every student planted a sapling within school premises and in designated community areas and also pledged to take care of it. The initiative created awareness among students about environmental conservation while building a personal bond of responsibility with nature.
Urban and Housing department carried out a door-to-door awareness campaign on the 3R concept—Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Demonstrations were also held on home composting and the twin-bin system, encouraging households to adopt simple waste segregation practices for a cleaner environment.
Rural Development and Panchayati Raj department organised plantation drives around Amrit Sarovars, thereby promoting the protection and beautification of these water bodies.
Social Welfare department engaged with the elderly and vulnerable sections of society and distributed assistive devices including wheelchairs, motorised tricycles, and hearing aids. These efforts not only addressed immediate needs but also emphasised inclusivity and care for all sections of the community.
As part of the education-focused initiative ‘Volunteering in Schools for Special Classes,’ Additional Deputy Commissioner, Pulwama, Dr. S.M Ashraf visited orphanage centres and schools where he delivered lectures and also donated books, stationery, blankets and clothes among the underprivileged students
As part of the Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan, Health department organised Mega Medical Camps, where people availed multiple health services and consultations. The department also spread awareness about preventive healthcare and women’s health.

DC Kupwara visits Border Block Machill; reviews winter preparedness, developmental works; Presides over Sewa Parv camp
Kupwara : Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse, Saturday conducted an extensive tour of the remote border block Machill to review the ongoing developmental works and take stock of winter preparedness in the area.
DC chaired a meeting at Mini Secretariat Machill to review the ongoing developmental works and winter preparedness in the block. ACR Kupwara, Peerzada Mumtaz Ahmad, BDO, Tehsildar, BMO and other block level officers attended the meeting.
Suse reviewed the winter preparedness including availability of essential commodities, medical services, snow clearance plan etc. He got feedback from the concerned officers regarding the same, and was informed that sufficient stock of ration and other essential commodities are available in the border block to meet the requirements of the people during winter period.
He put emphasis on the emergency health care services during snow conditions, and directed the concerned to ensure availability of doctors and ambulance for evacuation of delivery patients.
He also reviewed snow clearance machinery positioning and asked PWD and BEACON to ensure readiness for prompt snow clearance operations.
On the developmental front, DC reviewed the ongoing infrastructure projects including road construction, power and water supply schemes, and health and education facilities. He stressed on speedy execution and quality assurance, particularly for projects nearing completion before snowfall.
Later, DC presided over a Sewa Parv camp at Machill, as part of the ongoing nationwide initiative to promote public service and grassroots outreach.
The camp witnessed participation from various departments including health, agriculture, social welfare, education, and rural development, which had installed their stalls providing on-spot services and awareness to the local population.
Addressing the gathering, DC highlighted the importance of Sewa Parv in strengthening the government’s commitment to last-mile delivery and citizen-centric governance. He appreciated the enthusiastic participation of the locals and assured them of continued administrative support for development and welfare initiatives in the border region.
Interacting with the locals, DC assured that the district administration is committed to ensuring that border and far-flung areas like Machill are not neglected and receive focused attention in both governance and development. He also appreciated the resilience of the residents living in tough terrains and reaffirmed support from the administration.
Mandeep Kaur visits Awantipora, participates in ongoing Sewa Parv celebrations
Awantipora: Commissioner Secretary, Housing and Urban Development department, Mandeep Kaur, Saturday visited Urban Local Body Awantipora and convened meeting at Mini-Secretariat here to discuss formulation of Master Plan for Awantipora town.
The Commissioner Secretary was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama Dr. Basharat Qayoom; Director, School of Planning and Architecture (SPA) New Delhi, Prof. Virendra Kumar Paul; Director Urban Local Bodies, Qazi Sarwar; Town Planner Kashmir, Bilquees Jeelani; Prof. R. Biwas and other officers.
During the meeting, Mandeep Kaur held threadbare discussion on crucial urban concerns including sewerage, flood management, revenue records, transportation systems, solid waste management, youth engagement and self-employment schemes, forest and heritage conservation, disaster preparedness, and drainage planning.
The Commissioner Secretary outlined the participants about the vision of Housing & Urban Development department to develop a comprehensive Master Plan for Awantipora municipality. It was informed that the plan will articulate a shared vision for the city’s future, aimed at long-term sustainable development, smart urban growth, and economic empowerment.
Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom, presented a district profile with special emphasis on Awantipora highlighting agricultural patterns, major crops, and socio-economic characteristics of the region.
This meeting served as a kick-starter for the formulation of the Awantipora Master Plan, laying the groundwork for a coordinated and inclusive urban development strategy.
The meeting was attended by ADC Awantipora, ACR Pulwama, CEO Pulwama, and officers from various district and sectoral departments, while local representatives of Awantipora town also participated and raised their issues for consideration in the upcoming master plan.
Later, Commissioner Secretary along with the team undertook a field visit of Awantipora, inspecting key infrastructure sites including the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) and AIIMS Awantipora.
At these locations, the Commissioner Secretary interacted with institutional representatives and concerned officials, who apprised the Commissioner Secretary about the ongoing developmental works, future expansion plans, academic and healthcare potential of these institutions, as well as the transport, water supply, drainage, and waste management syste
Earlier, as part of ongoing Sewa Parv Celebrations, Mandeep Kaur participated in a Mega Public Outreach Camp organised at Mini-Secretariat Awantipora.
The Commissioner Secretary inspected stalls set up by multiple departments like Cooperatives, Agriculture, Horticulture, Revenue, KVIB, Self Help Groups, Handicrafts & Handloom, Education, Fisheries, ICDS, Animal & Sheep Husbandry. She interacted with officials, reviewed their activities, and directed them to ensure maximum outreach and service delivery under the Sewa Parv campaign.
The Commissioner Secretary also inspected the mega medical camp organised under the Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan.
On the occasion, entitlements were also distributed among beneficiaries, besides a blood donation camp was also held by the Health Department.
Secy RDD extensively tours border areas of Karnah, reviews implementation of developmental schemes

Karnah : As part of an ongoing ‘Sewa Parv’ campaign, Secretary, Rural Development Department (RDD) and Panchayati Raj, Mohammad Aijaz Asad Saturday conducted an extensive tour of Karnah to review the implementation of developmental schemes on the ground.
MLA Karnah, Javaid Ahmad Mirchal and other concerned officers of Rural development department were also present on the occasion.
During the visit, Secretary Asad undertook a detailed review of developmental activities carried out by the RDD, with special focus on employment generation under MGNREGA, asset creation under Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen), and the registration status under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin).
He directed the officers and field staff to ensure timely and quality completion of all works.
The Secretary, along with MLA Karnah, Javid Ahmad Mirchal also held a public Grievance Redressal Camp at Teetwal and interacted with scores of public delegations who raised their issues and sought intervention of the government.
The public outreach event at Teetwal witnessed enthusiastic participation from a cross-section of society, including youth, senior citizens and civil society representatives. The locals raised several pressing demands related to improving rural road connectivity, ensuring regular water supply, enhancing health services, upgrading education infrastructure and creating employment avenues for the youth.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Karnah Javaid Ahmad Mirchal urged the department to give special priority to Karnah, highlighting its unique challenges as a border area that remains cut off for months each year.
He reiterated his commitment to ensuring the speedy execution of public welfare initiatives and demanded that the RDD Blocks of Karnah be equipped with adequate manpower and funds to address the needs of this remote region.
On the occasion, the Secretary sanctioned key civic amenities for Yatris visiting the historic Sharda Temple in Teetwal like construction of public convenience block, drinking water facilities and Yatri Halt sheds to provide shelter, addressing a long-standing demand of the local community and devotees.
“The development of border areas is our priority, and this includes facilitating spiritual and religious tourism. Providing these basic amenities at Sharda Temple is a step towards recognizing its importance and ensuring devotees can visit with comfort and dignity,” Secretary Asad stated.
As part of the ongoing “Swachhata Hi Sewa” campaign, the Secretary also conducted a plantation drive at the Forest Dak Bungalow in Teetwal. He also flagged off sanitation vehicles for door-to-door waste collection in the block, and launched a signature campaign for the ‘Swachhta Pledge’.
During the event, the Secretary also distributed allotment letters for CSCs for the Play Field and Masjid Shareef Awan Mohalla Teetwal. He assured the public that their demand for a public park would be addressed and necessary funds for fencing the Teetwal playground would be arranged at the earliest.
The outreach programme concluded with a detailed interaction session where the Secretary patiently heard individual grievances and suggestions, assuring their time-bound redressal through proper administrative channels.
He emphasized the critical role of public participation in the planning and implementation of development projects and directed officers to prioritize transparency, efficiency, and timely completion.
Later, the Secretary visited the remote border villages of Seemari and Hajinard to inspect the quality of ongoing works under schemes like RGSA and MGNREGA, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to inclusive development at the grassroots level.
Series of activities on day-4 of Sewa Parv 2025 across B’pora
Bandipora : On day-4 of Sewa Parv 2025, a series of community-focused activities were organised across Bandipora district by various departments and institutions.
Schools, students, and teachers across the district actively participated in plantation drives, awareness sessions, and other activities, ensuring wide engagement and community involvement.
Department of Cooperatives conducted cleanliness drives, plantation activities, oath-taking ceremonies, and tug-of-war events to promote teamwork and cooperative spirit among citizens. Municipal Committee Sumbal carried out sanitation drives at rivers and bus stands, plog runs, door-to-door awareness campaigns on waste segregation, and distribution of cloth bags to reduce single-use plastic.
Similarly, cleanliness drives were held at WSS Zonipora Asham and WSS Shadipora, under the PHE Sub-Division Sumbal, emphasising source-level waste management.
Educational institutions also actively contributed to the celebrations. College faculty and NSS volunteers of GDC Bandipora visited Government Girls Middle School, Aloosa, where they conducted interactive sessions and distributed stationery items to students.
Forest Department, in collaboration with NCC cadets and PCC Bandipora, organised a plantation drive at Government Boys HSS Bagh Bandipora. WUCMA carried out a cleaning drive at Kanibathi Spring, removing around 20 kilograms of plastic waste under the Sewa Parv initiative.
The day-long events under Sewa Parv 2025 once again reflected the spirit of collective responsibility, with communities, educational institutions, and government bodies working together to promote environmental stewardship, social awareness, and sustainable practices across Bandipora district.

Felicitation camps, health check-ups & anti-drug awareness campaigns mark the fourth day of the campaign
Shopian : Continuing the spirit of Sewa Parv, district administration Shopian Saturday observed the fourth day of the campaign with an array of departmental activities focusing on health, education, sanitation, environment, and social welfare.
On the occasion, a wide range of programmes were carried out across the district with active participation from officials, students, and community members.
Municipal Council, Shopian organized a felicitation camp under the Angikaar campaign along with a help desk for PMAY(U) beneficiaries, while the Social Welfare department conducted health check-ups of children in Child Care Institutions.
FCS&CA department held a nutrition and awareness session at TSO office Keegam under the theme ‘Fortified Rice.’
Ayush department organized a free medical camp at Turkwangam, whereas the Horticulture department conducted awareness-cum-training programmes at different zones of the district.
Education department observed the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative with plantation drives in schools where students planted saplings and pledged to nurture them, while the Forest department undertook drives against single-use plastics.
In addition, departments including GDCs, Polytechnic College, RDD, Health and others also organised their scheduled activities under the Seva Parv Initiative.
Sewa Parv 2025: Day 4 highlights spirit of collective responsibility for cleaner & socially responsible G’bal\
Ganderbal : As part of the ongoing Sewa Parv 2025 celebrations, a series of activities were Saturday organized across Ganderbal district underlining the spirit of collective responsibility, with enthusiastic participation from locals, educational institutions, and government departments.
The day’s activities focused on cleanliness, environmental conservation, and social awareness, showcasing the commitment of the district towards building a cleaner and socially responsible Ganderbal.
At Government Polytechnic College Ganderbal, GDC Kangan, and GCET Safapora, plantation drives were carried out, while the Rural Development department organized similar drives at various Amrit Sarovars. In addition, the Manasbal Development Authority conducted a massive cleanliness drive in its jurisdiction.
To further spread social messages through art, GDC Ganderbal organized a theme-based wall painting activity.
Meanwhile, Agriculture and allied departments carried out awareness programs for the farming community on various government schemes including HADP, JKCIP, PM-KISAN, KCC, IPM, Natural Farming, and Daksh Kisan registrations.
ICDS department also organized Poshan Maah camps across all three project blocks of the district, with special focus on Apaar and ABHA ID creation.

Int’l Cleanup Day 2025, Green Campus Awards celebrated at GDC Kulgam
MLA Kulgam stresses organising cleanup drives along critical & fragile ecosystems to safeguard them from pollution
Kulgam: The ‘International Cleanup Day 2025’ and the felicitation ceremony on Green Campus Awards were organized Saturday at Government Degree College (GDC) Kulgam by the Department of Environmental Science and the NSS wing of the college, in collaboration with the Climate Reality Project India and South Asia.
International Cleanup Day is a global movement uniting millions of people to address the problem of mismanaged waste and promote a cleaner environment. Communities worldwide organize local cleanups, raise environmental awareness, and inspire actions for a waste-free future.
Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Kulgam, M.Y. Tarigami, who is also Chairman, House Committee on Environment, J&K Legislative Assembly, was the chief guest on the occasion. Addressing the participants, he deliberated in detail on various aspects of the environment, stressing the need for cleanup drives along critical and fragile ecosystems to safeguard them from waste pollution.
District Development Commissioner, Athar Amir Khan was the guest of honour. He provided an overview of the ecological crises facing the world and highlighted the environmental treasures of Kulgam, richly endowed by nature.
Patron of the program and Principal, GDC Kulgam, Prof. (Dr.) M Abass Shah, in his address, spoke at length about the environmental measures initiated by the college over the years. He also received the Gold Award from the Green Campus Program of the Climate Reality Project India and South Asia for the green and sustainable practices adopted by the college.
The Co-Patron of the program, Advocate Nadeem Qadri, Advisor, Green Campus Program, Climate Reality Project India and South Asia, highlighted the significance of the initiative and briefed the audience on the need to adopt green campus practices.
Aadil Bhat, Program Officer, Green Campus Program, also spoke on the various green campus initiatives.
A felicitation ceremony was also held to honor the teaching and non-teaching staff members of the college for their contributions to the Green Campus Program. The event further featured a cleanliness drive by the Municipal Council Kulgam with students of the college, as well as a plantation drive carried out by the District Forest department within the campus.
The program was attended by academicians, researchers, environmentalists, and students.
Sewa Parv: Distt admin Shopian organises distt level seminar on ‘Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking’ at GDC
Shopian : Under Seva Parv campaign and with the aim of spreading awareness on the ill effects of drug abuse and the challenges of illicit trafficking, district administration Shopian Saturday organized a district level seminar on ‘Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking’ at Government Degree College, here.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Shishir Gupta was the chief guest on the occasion. In his address, he pointed out that drug addiction is not only a serious health hazard but also a social and economic problem that weakens communities and demands strict implementation of multi pronged strategy across all sectors and stakeholders to curb it.
He called upon teachers, parents and religious leaders to play a proactive role in guiding youth towards positive endeavours and appealed for joining hands with district administration and supporting in curbing this menace completely in the district.
SSP, Shopian, Anayat Ali underlined the strict enforcement measures being taken against drug peddlers and traffickers in the district and appealed to the public, especially youth, to become partners in the fight against drug abuse by supporting police in its efforts to dismantle drug networks.
Other speakers on the occasion highlighted the ill effects and ramifications of drugs for the social and economic health of society, and deliberated on the role of all stakeholders to save the young from the addiction.
On the occasion, DIPR Shopian and Cultural Unit, DIPR Kashmir sponsored skit and poetic performances on drugs, and distributed Surya Ghar IEC material among participants.
Other cultural performances, skits of school children, presentation of Sqay Martial arts were highlights of the day, all emphasizing the importance of a drug-free lifestyle.

Sewa Parv Day-4: Distt B’gam witnesses series of community welfare & awareness activities
Budgam : The ongoing Sewa Parv-2025 continued in Budgam with great enthusiasm on Day-4, witnessing a series of vibrant activities organised across different blocks, zones, and institutions of the district.
The programmes reflected the spirit of collective service, community participation, and government–citizen partnership in building a healthier, greener, and more empowered society.
A grand highlight of the day was the successful organisation of a Kisan Mela at Bahisht-e-Zehra Park, Budgam, by the district administration in collaboration with the Agriculture department. The event brought together farmers, experts, and government officials to promote modern farming techniques and showcase innovative agricultural solutions.
The dignitaries interacted with farmers, inspected stalls displaying high-yield seeds, organic fertilizers, modern farming equipment, and advised farmers to avail government schemes and adopt scientific methods for improved productivity.
Under the banner of Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan, a mega Health Camp was held at PHC Panzan, Block Chadoora, providing free consultations from Ophthalmologists and Gynecologists. Women from Panzan and adjoining areas benefited from NCD screening, HB testing, and counselling sessions, which was aimed at promoting women’s health and well-being.
An awareness programme was organised by Poshan Project BK Pora at HalqaSoiteng, Zone Lasjan, educating the community on the importance of Aadhaar and Apaar IDs. The initiative helped locals understand how these IDs facilitate access to welfare services and schemes.
As part of empowerment initiatives, women trainees trained by RSETI along with meritorious students were felicitated under Sewa Parv. The programme celebrated achievements in skill development and education, inspiring youth and women to pursue self-reliance.
A massive plantation drive was conducted in multiple Halqas of Block S.K. Pora, promoting greenery and raising environmental awareness. The initiative emphasised sustainable living and collective responsibility towards nature conservation.
Students actively participated in Sewa Parv activities at BPS Hayatpora and PS Gogjipathri, Zone Nagam and in all other schools of district Budgam. These programmes included cleanliness drives, awareness sessions, and interactive engagements, instilling the values of service, responsibility, and civic sense among children.
Civil society members of Beerwah joined hands in awareness and cleanliness drives, demonstrating strong community participation. Their involvement showcased the essence of Sewa Parv where citizens were seen working collectively with the administration for social good and community development.
