Rajouri | :  The Department of Youth Services and Sports, District Rajouri proudly launched the Inter-District Divisional Level Under-14 Girls Kabaddi Tournament—an inspiring celebration of young athletic talent, teamwork and empowerment. With nine districts participating, the event stands as a testament to the growing strength of girls in competitive sports and the district’s commitment to nurturing future champions.

Teams from across the region arrived yesterday, bringing with them enthusiasm, discipline and a shared spirit of unity. The opening ceremony, held Friday, was a vibrant display of community pride and sporting excellence.  District Development Commissioner Abhishek Sharma presided as Chief Guest and officially declared the tournament open.

In his address, he emphasized the transformative role of sports in shaping confident, resilient young women and encouraged all participants to compete with integrity and passion.

Station House Officer Abid Bukhari attended as Guest of Honour and delivered a motivating message that resonated deeply with the athletes. His presence underscored the importance of inclusive sports platforms and the value of perseverance, discipline and mutual respect.

The tournament is being conducted under the expert supervision of Mohd Qasim, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, whose strategic leadership and dedication have ensured smooth execution. Operational coordination and on-ground support are being ably managed by Zonal Physical Education Officer, Baljarallan Wali Mohd.

Day one of the tournament witnessed spirited performances and thrilling contests. Poonch registered two impressive victories, defeating   Jammu and Reasi. Host district Rajouri secured a win against Ramban, while Doda outplayed Kathua. Udhampur also emerged victorious against Samba. These early results reflect the high level of preparation and passion among the participating girls, many of whom are competing at this level for the first time.

Live fixtures, match updates and standings will be shared regularly through official communication channels, ensuring transparency and engagement for all stakeholders.
