Labour Commr J&K hosts online Webinar on Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan under Sewa Parv 2025

Jammu | : Labour Commissioner J&K Charandeep Singh Friday chaired an online webinar as part of the ongoing activities of SewaParv 2025. The webinar was organised on the theme “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan” and witnessed vibrant participation from across the Union Territory. More than 1000 participants joined the programme online, including representatives from the civil administration, police administration, private employers and employees, as well as various NGOs.

The programme began with a welcome address by S. Sukhpal Singh, Deputy Labour Commissioner (Jammu), followed by introductory remarks by Labour Commissioner J&K, Charandeep Singh. He highlighted the proactive role of the Labour Department in implementing welfare measures, particularly those aimed at women welfare. He also led the participants in taking the Shramik Shakti Pledge, affirming collective commitment to empowering women workers.

The webinar featured a galaxy of distinguished speakers who shared valuable insights on women’s empowerment and child protection.

Dr. Ellina Samantroy, Fellow at V.V. Giri National Labour Institute (Noida), delivered a thought-provoking address on advancing gender equality in the world of work, with special reference to labour laws and international labour standards.

Prof. Renu Nanda, Dean, Faculty of Education, University of Jammu, emphasized the pivotal role of women as change makers in promoting hygiene, education, and social well-being, underscoring their contribution to building healthier families and communities.

Further, Nimisha Rajput, President of the Child Welfare Committee Samba, highlighted the legal frameworks and welfare schemes aimed at protecting and empowering young girls.  Najwan Nazki, Deputy Labour Commissioner Kashmir, elaborated on women’s empowerment through the effective implementation of labour laws and social security measures, while Amit Kumar, Assistant Labour Commissioner Ramban, spoke in detail about addressing the persistent challenge of child labour. The programme concluded on a gracious note with a vote of thanks presented by  RoopaliGandotra, Assistant Labour Commissioner (Central).

The session served as a meaningful platform for dialogue on women’s empowerment, protection of children, and the importance of collective responsibility in building stronger families and communities under the vision of Sewa Parv 2025.
