Says ‘Op Sindoor a clear message to World”
New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday emphasized India’s proactive approach to national security during an event commemorating the 60th anniversary of the 1965 India-Pakistan war.
Defence Minister highlighted the success of ‘Operation Sindoor,’ which was launched in response to the April 2025 terror attack in Pahalgam that resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians. The operation involved significant military action, including the destruction of terror outfit headquarters in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, leading to the elimination of over 100 terrorists across multiple locations. Singh noted that the operation not only avenged the attack but also reinforced India’s resolve to act decisively against threats to national sovereignty. He pointed out that the leadership’s commitment to a strong military response reflects a broader shift in India’s defense strategy, focusing on modernization, improved training, and preparedness to address future challenges effectively. Recalling the 1965 conflict, Singh remarked on the importance of unity and collective decision-making in overcoming military threats. He acknowledged the role of past leadership in maintaining national morale during difficult times and reiterated the government’s ongoing commitment to supporting serving soldiers, veterans, and the families of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation. The event was attended by military officials and families of fallen soldiers, underscoring the significance of honoring their contributions.
