Shopian |:  District administration, led by District Development Commissioner (DDC), Shishir Gupta, has launched the pioneering Springshed Climate Adaptability Project, approved recently by NABARD.

This initiative, a first of its kind in the district marks a significant milestone in the district’s pursuit of sustainable development, capacity building, livelihood opportunities, and water security.

The project aims to conserve natural springs, recharge groundwater, provide sustained irrigation and drinking water facilities, and preserve cultural heritage connected with water resources in the Zainapora block of the district.

DDC emphasized the importance of conservation of springs, capacity building, and livelihood improvement through convergence.

He was briefed on project components, progress, and potential issues, highlighting the need for a complementary approach. DDC directed that local administration’s technical expertise and community needs be considered, emphasizing that project success depends on stakeholder participation and a convergent approach.

The meeting was attended by SDM Zainapora, LDM Shopian, DGM NABARD and team, CHO, CAO, Tehsildar Zainapora, BDO Zainapora, and other officers.

District administration is poised to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the people of Shopian, ensuring long-term water availability and sustainable development.
