In his inaugural address, the Labour Commissioner emphasized the Government’s commitment towards ensuring Shramik Suraksha Aur Samman, highlighting that workers are the backbone of the economy and their welfare remains the top priority.
The Labour Commissioner underlined that the Sewa Parv will focus on extending maximum outreach to workers, creating awareness about labour laws and facilitating enrolment under the social security schemes including e-Shram, PM-SYM, PMSBY, and PMJJBY.
As part of the fortnight-long campaign, special drives will be organized across the Union Territory to spread awareness on the rights and entitlements of workers, conduct health check-up camps and welfare service activities, facilitate registration of unorganised workers, gig and platform workers and construction workers, strengthen interaction between workers, trade unions and the department to ensure effective implementation of labour welfare measures.
Trade union representatives and workers also participated in the programme and shared their views. The initiative was appreciated as a meaningful step to connect governance directly with the working class.
Earlier, the inaugural function started with a Shramik Suraksha pledge to make a collective effort to empower workers and ensure their dignity, protection, and welfare.
