Par 3 Masters Makes History: Kashmir Hosts Its First-Ever Pitch & Putt Golf Tournament at Royal Springs Golf Club

Srinagar: Kashmir achieved a significant milestone in sports with the inaugural Pitch & Putt golf tournament at the Royal Springs Golf Club, coinciding with the launch of Season 2 of the India Tour of PAR 3 MASTERS.
The picturesque setting near Dal Lake and the Zabarwan Hills provided a stunning backdrop for the event, which fostered a spirit of competition and camaraderie among the 64 participants, including amateurs, experienced golfers, and female players. The specially designed Par 3 course challenged players’ precision and short game skills, with the Royal Springs Golf Club team, led by Ghalib M. Shah, ensuring optimal playing conditions. Dr. Farooq Abdullah highlighted the event’s significance, noting the growing enthusiasm for Pitch & Putt in India and expressing pride in hosting the tournament in Kashmir. His active participation served as motivation for the players. Rajan Sehgal, President of the Indian Golf Tourism Association, emphasized the tournament’s role in promoting accessibility and inclusivity in golf, while also enhancing tourism opportunities in the region.
Mushtaq Burza, Chairman of Ahad Group of Hotels, remarked on the positive message the event sends about Kashmir’s peaceful environment, encouraging tourism and exploration of its golf courses. In the competition, Ghalib M. Shah won the Men’s Category, with Dr. Altaf Ramzan as runner-up, while Reem Khanday claimed victory in the Female Category, with Rubina Farooq finishing second. The “Accuracy Drive – Closest to the Pin” contest was won by Qazi Fasi, showcasing exceptional skill. Organized by Can and Able Entertainment, the event marked a successful debut for the PAR 3 MASTERS in North India, setting the stage for future Pitch & Putt events. Munish Arora, Founder of Can and Able and President of the Indian Pitch & Putt Association, expressed optimism for the sport’s future in India, with plans for new Pitch & Putt courses underway. The tournament not only celebrated competitive golf but also underscored Kashmir’s potential as a premier golf tourism destination, highlighting its world-class infrastructure and natural beauty.
