Gandhi Jayanti: Students revisit ‘My Experiments With Truth’ at GCOE Jammu

Samba: Government College of Education Jammu began fortnightly events to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti, with a unique event titled “Decoding Gandhi: A Book Talk on My Experiments with Truth.”
The celebration aimed to delve into the life and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi through the lens of his own autobiography. The event was held under the patronage of the College Principal, Dr. Jyoti Parihar.
Dr. Parihar highlighted the importance of revisiting Gandhi’s principles as described in his own words, commending the college’s faculty and students for their enthusiastic participation. She emphasized the book’s enduring relevance, noting that it is not merely a historical account but a guide to self-discovery and a testament to the power of truth and introspection.
The program was organized by Dr. Shalini Rana, IQAC Convener and head of the Literary Club of the college.
Dr. Rajinder Kour, Coordinator B.Ed. and M.Ed. Courses offered a deep analysis of Gandhi’s early life and his struggles, while Prof. Balwan Singh spoke on the relevance of Gandhi’s philosophy.
Dr. Suraj Prakash highlighted the message of Peace and Non-Violence given by Gandhi. Dr. ShubhraJamwal also shared her perspectives on the enduring legacy of non-violence and truth. Rudardev Singh, the anchor, ensured a smooth and engaging flow throughout the program.ITEP students actively engaged in discussions and activities centered on the book, My Experiments with Truth. The highlight of the event was the competition based on the book. The first prize was awarded to Kusum Jamwal, V. Surajalakshmi bagged second place nd Shriya secured the third position. Sourav, Lakshmi and Khushi also presented their analysis on the book by Gandhi.
The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks. Shrnya Sharma, representing the media, was also present to cover the event, capturing the spirit of the day’s proceedings
