Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has intensified efforts to combat illegal mining activities in the Police district Handwara and has seized 7 vehicles (2 tippers, 5 Tractors) involved in illegal excavation and transportation of minerals.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday Police said that police teams of Police Post Langate and Police Station Kralgund headed by supervisory officers seized 7 vehicles (2 tippers, 5 Tractors) bearing registration numbers JK09D-2685, JK09C-7748, JK05L-6813, JK09-1518, Jk03B-4681, Ch No.15893, Ch. No. 937S3 involved in illegal excavation and transportation of minerals.
Stating that proceedings under the provisions of the (MMDR Act) were registered besides initiating further investigations currently underway Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding illegal mining activities in their neighbourhood and assured strict action against the violators as per law.
