Srinagar : To curb the transportation and sale of unsafe food items, the special Flying Squads comprising members from all concerned departments, during a joint market inspection, seized rotten meat from two separate locations in Budgam district.
In a statement issued here on Monday Police said that it has registered cases under FIR No. 255/2025 at Police Station Budgam against Wazwaan Point Restaurant, and FIR No. 143/2025 at Police Station Magam against Big Boss Restaurant, Magam for selling rotten and unhygienic Wazwaan items prepared from meat.
Stating that legal action under Sections 271, 272, and 275 of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 has been initiated against the offenders Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement warned that such violations pose a serious risk to public health and will not be tolerated, reiterating therein that Market inspections and strict monitoring shall continue besides stringent legal action will be taken against any individual or establishment found involved in selling rotten, substandard, or unhygienic food items.
