Anantnag : Under Mera Resham Mera Abhimaan (MRMA) programme, Central Silk Board-CSR&TI Pampore, in collaboration with the Sericulture Development Department, J&K, organized a Demonstration Programme on Disinfection Technologies for Silkworm Rearing on 15th September, 2025 at Sheikhpora, Dachnipora, Anantnag.
The programme focused on equipping farmers with practical knowledge about the role of disinfection in maintaining healthy silkworm crops. Hands-on sessions focussed on the preparation of disinfection solutions, calculation of solution requirements for rearing houses and implements and step-by-step process of pre- and post-rearing disinfection. Farmers were also familiarized with the differences between slaked lime and quick lime, enabling them to make informed choices in field application.
The interactive training helped farmers not only understand the scientific importance of disinfection as a preventive tool against diseases but also boosted their confidence in adopting best practices for improved cocoon production. The programme proved highly beneficial in reinforcing the idea that timely and proper disinfection is the foundation of successful silkworm rearing.
Speaking on the occasion, officials highlighted that such capacity-building programmes are vital to empower farmers with practical knowledge and ensure sustainable growth of sericulture in the region.
