Srinagar: Below is the weeklong timeline of key engagements of J&K Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah witnessed within and outside J&K this week:-
1. LG Reviews Preparations For ‘Sewa Parv’ Across J&K: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha chaired a high-level meeting to review preparations for ‘Sewa Parv’, scheduled from September 17 to October 2, 2025, across Jammu and Kashmir. The LG directed officers to ensure inclusivity, stressing that “every voice is heard and every segment of society benefits from development initiatives.”
2. CM Stresses Scientific Interventions For Hangul Conservation: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah addressed the valedictory session of the Second International Conference on Hangul and Other Threatened Ungulates Conservation at SKUAST-K, Srinagar. He underlined the importance of scientific interventions for protecting Hangul and other ungulates, reaffirming the government’s commitment to safeguard Hangul, J&K’s state animal and a symbol of Kashmir’s natural heritage.
3. CM Offers Prayers At Hazratbal On Milad-Un-Nabi (SAW): On the occasion of Friday following Milad-un-Nabi (SAW), Chief Minister Omar Abdullah paid obeisance and offered prayers at the revered Dargah Hazratbal, seeking peace, harmony and prosperity for Jammu and Kashmir.
4. MoU Signed For Construction Of 1,500 Free Houses: LG Manoj Sinha announced that an MoU has been signed between HRDS India and Divisional Commissioners Jammu and Kashmir to construct 1,500 free houses for families whose homes were damaged during Operation Sindoor and the recent floods. These modern three-bedroom houses will incorporate features ensuring both comfort and safety.
5. MLAs Call On CM, Discuss Flood-Related Issues: Several MLAs today met Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to discuss constituency matters, particularly challenges faced due to recent rains and floods across various regions of J&K.
6. LG Inaugurates Exhibition On New Criminal Laws
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated an exhibition on ‘New Criminal Laws’, organised by J&K Police’s Economic Offences Wing. He said the initiative would raise awareness among students, parents, and the general public, and help ensure justice “to the last man in the queue.”
7. CM Launches Book On Muslim Women In Lok Sabha: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah launched “Missing from the House: Muslim Women in the Lok Sabha” by Rasheed Kidwai and Ambar Kumar Ghosh at the India Islamic Cultural Centre. Describing it as a compelling account, he said the book highlights the struggles and achievements of 18 Muslim women who overcame barriers to make their mark in India’s democracy.
8. CM Thanks Railway Minister For Apple Parcel Trains:
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed gratitude to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for facilitating the transportation of apples from Kashmir by train. He said the initiative, coordinated by the Horticulture Department and Railway Ministry, is a “source of great relief” for growers facing highway disruptions.
9. Parcel Train From Budgam To Delhi A Boon For Growers: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said the daily Budgam–Delhi parcel train will provide immense relief to apple growers. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for supporting Kashmir’s horticulture sector.
10. CM Inaugurates Wedding Expo At SKICC: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah inaugurated Hindusthan-2025 Wedding Planners Expo at SKICC, Srinagar. He said J&K has the potential to become India’s destination wedding capital, with the “Wed in Kashmir” initiative turning natural beauty into prosperity and global recognition.
11. LG Reviews NH-44 Restoration, Visits Flood-Hit Families: LG Manoj Sinha visited Thard village, Udhampur, to review restoration works on the rain-hit NH-44. He said one lane would soon be opened to traffic. The LG also visited a health camp for flood-affected families at the Gujjar Bakerwal Hostel in Jakhani.
12. Scores Of Delegations Meet CM At Raabita Office: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah met scores of delegations and individuals at his Raabita office today, who apprised him of various public issues.
13. LG Delivers Keynote At University Of Jammu Foundation Day: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha addressed the foundation day ceremony of the University of Jammu. He spoke on leveraging innovation and technology for conservation, integrating sustainability in education, and preparing students to build Viksit Bharat.
14. CM Pays Tributes To Soldiers In Wreath-Laying Ceremony: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah paid tributes at the wreath-laying ceremony of two soldiers martyred in Kulgam. He said their courage, valour, and supreme sacrifice will always be remembered with deep respect.
15. LG addresses In’l Nanotechnology Conference At KU: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha addressed the International Conference on Nanotechnology for Better Living at the University of Kashmir. The five-day event has drawn leading scientists and researchers to showcase recent advances in nanotechnology and its applications for sustainable living.
