Sale of Rotten Meat: ‘6 More FIRs Registered; Flying Squads Formed, Recoveries Made’, Says Srinagar Police

Srinagar: Srinagar Police in coordination with Civil Administration and the Department of Food Safety on Friday launched a dedicated operation to curb the menace.
In a statement issued here on Friday Police said that in the ongoing crackdown, six cases (FIRs) have been registered against individuals and establishments found selling rotten meat in violation of public health and safety regulations, which include case FIRs No. 45/2025 under section 271,275 BNS of PS Lal Bazar, 90/2025 under section 272,275 BNS of PS Bemina, 67/2025 under section 271,275 BNS, 51 Food Safety Act of PS Batamaloo, 102/2025 under section 271, 280 BNS of PS Safakadal, 73/2025 under section 271, 275 BNS of PS Ram Munshi Bagh and 48/2025 under section 61, 271,275 BNS of PS Zakura.
Stating that flying Squad comprising of officials from the District Police, Civil Administration and the Food Safety Department have been constituted to carry out surprise inspections across the city, Police in its statement further said that during inspection significant recoveries of rotten meat were made besides which items were confiscated and destroyed as per protocol.
Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement reiterated its commitment to safeguarding public health and ensuring zero tolerance against the business outlets indulging in activities that endanger the lives of people. Police in its statement warned that strict legal action will be taken against offender to curb the menace .
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement police appealed people to remain vigilant and report any such malpractices to the nearest police station or via helpline numbers.
