Srinagar: Police on Friday said that it has attached a residential property worth approximately ₹50 Lakhs under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
In a statement issued here on Friday Police said that the attached property comprises a single‑storey residential house, constructed on land measuring 5 marlas and 68 square feet, bearing khasra No. 339 and valued at approximately ₹50 lakhs belonging to one Waseem Ahmad Bafanda S/o Ghulam Ahmad Bafanda R/o Lachmanpora, Dandrkha, Batamaloo.
Stating that the action pertains to case FIR No. 01/2025 U/S 8/21, 29 of NDPS Act of Police Station Zadibal Police in its statement further said that the said accused was a notorious drug peddler and has a history of involvement in drug peddling, primarily targeting local youth, thereby posing a grave threat to public health and safety.
Police in its statement furthermore said that investigations indicate the property in question was obtained using funds derived from illegal drug trafficking activities, adding therein that while acting under Sections 68-E and 68-F of the NDPS Act the immovable property was seized and attached as per the due legal process. Police in its statement also clarified that the property cannot be sold, transferred, or otherwise dealt with without prior approval from the competent authority.
Stating that the attachment of the said property marks a decisive step in the broader strategy of Jammu & Kashmir Police to dismantle the financial infrastructure of narcotics networks Police in its statement reiterated its commitment to prioritize a zero-tolerance approach towards drug-related crimes, aiming to safeguard the people, especially vulnerable youth, from the dangers of substance abuse.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people cooperate with it by sharing any relevant information to ensure a safe, healthy, and drug-free society.
