Udhampur: In response to a recent news report titled – ‘Jammu-Sgr NH reopens, fresh landslide blocks Chenani-Latti road’ carried by a section of press on September 11-2025, the District Administration Udhampur refutes report of Ration Shortage and Connectivity Crisis in Latti–Dudu.
The District Administration Udhampur clarified that the said report suggesting severe ration shortage and lack of response in Tehsil Latti and Dudu Sub Division is not factually correct and does not reflect the ground reality.
The Jammu–Srinagar National Highway has already been restored and vehicular traffic is moving smoothly. With regard to the Chenani–Latti–Dudu road, it is clarified that the stretch between Mantalai and Sira was damaged only two days ago due to a fresh landslide. The repair work is being taken up on a mission mode by the PMGSY Department and restoration is in full swing.
At Latti to Dudu, the Army has been requested to install a Bailey Bridge to restore connectivity at the earliest. In the meantime, parallel connectivity to Dudu from the Ramnagar side has already been restored by PMGSY Ramnagar, thereby ensuring that essential movement is not hampered.
As far as ration availability is concerned, ration has been distributed in Dudu as well as in Didi Begger area adjoining Jakhed which is personally monitored by the SDM Dudu who is present on the spot. At present, there is a stock of 170 quintals of ration in Latti and 30 quintals of ration in Dudu, ensuring adequate availability for the population. The supply chain is being actively maintained and closely supervised by the Administration.
In addition, medical evacuations through air-lifting have been carried out in Latti and Basantgarh, ensuring that patients in need of urgent care were timely shifted to hospitals.
Besides, over 3,500 kilograms of relief material has been air-dropped by the Udhampur Administration in Basantgarh, providing essential supplies to the affected population in otherwise inaccessible areas.
The District Administration remains on the front foot and is putting in its best efforts to mitigate the situation and address the requirements of the public. Road restoration, ration supply, medical evacuations and relief distribution are being handled on a priority basis. The Administration is fully committed to ensuring the welfare and relief of the people in Tehsil Latti, Dudu, Basantgarh and adjoining Sub Divisions.
