Kishtwar: Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Pankaj Kumar Sharma Thursday gave away certificates to Krishi Udyamis who have recently completed a 15-day Certificate Course on Integrated Nutrient Management (INM).
The training program, held from August 12 to August 28, 2025, was organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Kishtwar, SKUAST-Jammu, in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture Production and Farmers’ Welfare.
The course was coordinated by Dr. Narinder Paul, Incharge KVK and guided by Director Extension, SKUAST-Jammu Dr. Amrish Vaid.
The INM certification is a prerequisite for individuals aspiring to establish fertilizer retail outlets and engage in the business of fertilizers and plant nutrients. Given the crucial role of input dealers in disseminating technological information to farmers, this training ensures that aspirants are well-equipped with scientific knowledge and practical skills.
The DC emphasized the need for providing farmer-centric agri-input services integrated with digital solutions. He encouraged the Krishi Udyamis to leverage such opportunities not only to support farming communities but also to establish sustainable entrepreneurial ventures.
Dr. Narinder Paul, Head, KVK Kishtwar, shared that the course comprised a comprehensive blend of classroom lectures, hands-on practicals, method demonstrations and exposure visits. The curriculum aimed at enhancing participants’ understanding of soil health, nutrient management and responsible fertilizer usage, delivered by experts from KVKs, SKUAST Jammu and the Department of Agriculture.
CAO Kishtwar, Kushal Chandel, highlighted the importance of balanced plant nutrition in achieving optimal crop yields. He urged the certified candidates to promote judicious use of fertilizers and manures among farmers, thereby contributing to sustainable and profitable agriculture in the region.
