Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested one drug peddler in Awantipora and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from zonal Police headquarters Srinagar Police said that during naka checking at Babapora Khrew, a Police Party headed by SHO police Statioin Khrew intercepted a suspect in suspicious condition, who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully and later identified as Rayees Ahmad Hajam S/o Gh Mohd Hajam R/o Sharshali Khrew
Stating that during search, 1 gram of Heroin-like substance was recovered from the possession of the said accused Police in its statement further said that a case under FIR No. 67/2025 was registered under relevant sections of law.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement police appealed people to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112 , urging them therein cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society.
