Kulgam : The Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of Women Kulgam on Thursday organized a Capacity Building and Exhibition Programme focused on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) to enhance the participation of women and girls in these fields.
The event was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan (IAS), who recognized and honored meritorious girl students from government schools for their outstanding performance in the 10th and 12th board examinations. As part of the recognition, the Deputy Commissioner distributed laptops and e-readers to these achievers to support their further studies. During his address, the Deputy Commissioner commended the collective efforts of teachers, students, and parents, noting that these achievements reflect the improving educational standards in government schools within the district. He encouraged students to remain dedicated to their academic pursuits and assured them of the District Administration’s full support for educational initiatives. The distribution of laptops and e-readers was part of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme, highlighting the Administration’s commitment to promoting girls’ education and digital inclusion. The event also featured various women speakers who emphasized the importance of educating and protecting the girl child, advocating for the strict enforcement of relevant regulations. The day included a STEM exhibition organized by SHEW Kulgam, showcasing 15 models created by girl students from different government higher secondary schools. The top three participants were celebrated for their contributions to STEM projects and received mementos and educational kits from the District Development Commissioner Kulgam. The event was attended by notable figures, including the Additional Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, the Chief Education Officer Kulgam, teachers, and proud parents.
