Rana attends Tribal Conference at Ang, Emphasizes grassroots planning and sustainable Dev

Anantnag : Minister for Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, on Wednesday addressed a Tribal Conference in Anantnag, attended by legislators, tribal leaders, and community representatives.
In his keynote speech Rana emphasized the importance of decentralized and participative planning for inclusive and sustainable development in tribal areas. He highlighted that empowering grassroots communities, particularly through local legislators, is crucial for effective government initiatives. Rana articulated that understanding local realities is essential for meaningful development, advocating for a collaborative approach that ensures no community is left behind. He outlined the core priorities of the Department of Tribal Affairs, which include enhancing healthcare, educational access, rural and digital connectivity, skill development, and revitalizing traditional livelihoods. He announced the formulation of various programs aimed at bridging service delivery gaps in remote tribal regions. A significant focus was placed on conferring forest rights through Forest Rights Committees (FRCs), which he described as vital for the legal and economic empowerment of tribal communities. The Minister also underscored the government’s commitment to cultural preservation, emphasizing the protection of tribal languages, customs, and heritage through the Tribal Research Institute (TRI). Additionally, Rana discussed plans to promote livelihood generation through traditional occupations such as milk and meat production and wool processing, which not only provide sustainable economic opportunities but also help maintain tribal identity. He reaffirmed that empowering tribal communities is a foundational commitment of the government and encouraged tribal youth to engage in creative entrepreneurship.
