Srinagar : Police in Handwara on Wednesday conducted a market checking drive in collaboration with the Food Safety Officer and the Executive Magistrate.
The operation involved thorough inspections of meat shops, Kiryana stores, hotels, restaurants, and other food vending outlets to ensure compliance with hygiene and sanitation standards. Inspectors focused on checking the expiry dates of food items and emphasized the importance of displaying approved rate lists. Shopkeepers were instructed to maintain cleanliness, avoid overpricing, and adhere to food safety regulations. The inspections uncovered several violations, leading to the registration of multiple FIRs against non-compliant food outlets at various police stations, including Handwara, Qalamabad, and Villgam.
