BBBP: Education deptt felicitates NEET qualifiers, 12th, 10th Toppers at Shopian

Shopian : A day-long district level mega programme under the flagship initiative Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) was Wednesday organised by Chief Education Office Shopian in collaboration with District Social Welfare office here at Government Degree College Shopian.
Speaking on the occasion, Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Shopian, Dr.Nasir Ahmad Lone underlined that the empowerment of women and education of girls is the cornerstone of an inclusive and progressive society. He stressed the importance of spreading awareness at the grassroots level to eradicate gender bias and create equal opportunities for girls in all walks of life.
ADDC urged parents, teachers and community representatives to play an active role in ensuring that every girl is educated, nurtured and empowered to contribute towards nation-building.
CEO Shopian, highlighted some of the key achievements of the Education Department Shopian in the field of education, empowerment, and welfare initiatives for female students. He emphasized that continuous efforts are being made to bring down the female dropout rate to zero, as educating girls remains the most powerful and sustainable form of women empowerment.
Experts from Education, Chief LADC from DLSA, teachers and student speakers threw light on the status of women in society and sensitised the participants about educational opportunities, health, legal avenues, career guidance and schemes available for their benefit.
Speakers also emphasized that programmes like BBBP are not just about awareness but about creating a social movement where the dignity, safety and rights of girls are safeguarded.
During the programme, girls’ achievers including NEET qualifiers, 12th and 10th Toppers of the district were felicitated for their outstanding contributions. Besides, a distribution function of education kits was also conducted for hand holding of female students from disadvantageous communities.
Principal, GDC, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammed Shafiq; DIO, Showkat Hussain Ganie; Chief LADC, Rafie Ahmad, officials of Education, Social Welfare, District Legal Services Authority Shopian, parents, students and community members participated in the programme in large numbers.
