TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan: DC Srinagar reviews progress in testing, tracking & treatment

Srinagar: In order to review the progress towards Tuberculosis-Free Srinagar under the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan in the district and assess the measures taken to achieve the goal of a TB Free status, a meeting of District TB Control Society was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar Akshay Labroo (Chairman District TB Control Society) here on Monday at meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex.
At the outset, DC took a Medical Zone/Block wise appraisal of key performance indicators including, TB notification rates, early detection and treatment adherence, implementation of Ni-Kshay Mitra initiative aimed to provide additional patient support to improve treatment outcomes of TB patients.
During the meeting, DC was given a detailed overview about the availability and utilisation of diagnostic equipment, screening mechanisms and treatment facilities in all Medical Zones and Blocks of the district.
On the occasion, Labroo laid emphasis on coordinated efforts, community engagement and optimal utilisation of resources to achieve the objectives of the TB Free Srinagar under TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. He called for intensified screening drives, particularly targeting vulnerable sections of the population to curb the spread of TB.
DC pressed for optimised resource utilization to deliver timely diagnosis and ensure effective treatment regimens to the TB patients. He stressed the importance of home visits by ASHA workers to extend ‘at-home’ support to patients and enhance recovery rates.
He said though the efforts of the administration are yielding significant results, the District TB Society has to further intensify efforts under the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and work collectively towards achieving a TB-Free Srinagar in alignment with national health goals.
DC assured all required support from the District Administration to District TB Control Society to further strengthen its functioning and improve testing measures to achieve required screening.
The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer, Fayaz Ahmad Dar, Chief Medical Officer, Dr Tahir Sajad, all Zonal Medical Officers, Block Medical Officers, Medical Superintends of SKIMS, Soura, SMHS, Hospital, JVC Bemina, JLNM Hospital, Gousia Hospital, CD Hospital and other concerned.
