Reasi: In the wake of the massive landslide and land sinking incident in the villages of Jamsalan, Sarh and Sildhar of Tehsil Mahore, the District Administration, Reasi has taken immediate measures to ensure the safety and welfare of the affected families.
All houses in the vulnerable areas were swiftly evacuated, and fortunately, no loss of life was reported. The displaced families have been shifted to safer locations, including schools and Panchayat Ghars. Temporary relief camps have been established at Jamsalan and Sarh, where affected families are being provided essential supplies such as tents, mattresses, ration and blankets. Additional relief material, including large tents, has already been requisitioned from NDRF for prompt delivery.
To ensure smooth functioning, nodal officers have been designated for each camp. Field officials, including SDM Mahore, Shafqat Majeed and the Tehsildars concerned, are continuously monitoring the situation on the ground.
The PHE and Health Departments, under the directions of Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Nidhi Malik, have been instructed to conduct regular water testing to prevent the spread of waterborne diseases. Medical teams are holding health camps to safeguard the well-being of the displaced families.
Unfortunately, the incident has also caused extensive damage to the land belonging to these families, leaving them without space to reconstruct their houses in their native villages.
In response to their demand for rehabilitation, the District Administration has formally taken up the matter in writing with higher authorities on September 6, 2025.
The District Administration, Reasi reaffirms its commitment to extending full support to the affected families and is continuously monitoring the situation.
