Ganderbal : The Department of English at the Central University of Kashmir on Monday organized an extension lecture titled “NEP 2020: Multidisciplinary Education and Holistic Development,” under the patronage of Vice Chancellor Prof. A. Ravinder Nath. The lecture was delivered by Prof. Hitesh D. Raviya, a prominent academic from The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, and chaired by Prof. (Dr.) Sandhya Tiwari, Head of the Department of English at CUK.
In his presentation, Prof. Raviya discussed the vision and objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, emphasizing its focus on flexibility, multidisciplinary learning, and the holistic development of students. He drew parallels with ancient Indian educational practices, particularly the concept of the 64 kalaas, advocating for the integration of traditional knowledge systems into contemporary education. Additionally, he highlighted the NEP’s commitment to promoting regional languages and local literatures, including Kashmiri, through translation and inclusion in the curriculum. Prof. Raviya addressed misconceptions regarding the policy, clarifying that it does not support the imposition of Hindi or any single language. The event began with a welcome address and the felicitation of the guest by Prof. Tiwari, and was conducted by Ms. Eiman G., a doctoral scholar from the department, who also delivered the vote of thanks.
